Wanting

Adult literary fiction about desire, and what it costs to stop performing

Five people who built something to be looked at

A man with a twelve-year system for never being known. A twenty-two-year-old at a reception desk who watches a couple kiss in a lobby at 10:47 on a Tuesday. A young woman in a Bucharest studio performing for anonymous rooms. Two women in a 1971 therapy office remembering things that do not belong to this life. Four friends at a Greek restaurant on a block that is changing around them.

These are explicit books, and the explicit parts are load-bearing. What happens to a body is how these characters find out what they actually want, which is usually not the thing they have been arranging their life around.

Two of them are a matched pair. Gettin’ Laid is the male viewpoint and The Itty Bitty Titty Committee is the female one, written to sit beside each other on completely different kinds of relationship.
