The Client

The client’s story is one of profound suffering and powerful survival. She was sold into sexual slavery at the age of 14 by her parents to fuel their drug addiction, enduring years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. After escaping, she faced the daunting task of rebuilding her life, and she found peace and hope when she met a Christian man who helped her find salvation.
She had five children, and today, she lives a happy life, but her past still weighed heavily on her. She wanted to write her story, not only to share the depths of her trauma but to show others that there is hope — no matter how dark one’s past may be.

The Journey

We started the writing process with a focus on her transformation. The goal was to document her experiences, from the traumatic years spent in captivity to her eventual escape and healing.
Through extensive interviews, we discussed the painful moments of her life — the abuse, the helplessness, and the journey to faith. The challenge was balancing the emotional weight of her experiences with the message of hope that she wanted to convey.
However, the process of revisiting her past became too emotionally overwhelming. Despite her strength and determination, the trauma she carried made it difficult to complete the interviews necessary for the book. Every step forward required confronting immense pain that she was not yet ready to face.

The Progress Made

The book was partially completed, with many powerful chapters reflecting her courage, struggles, and the early days of her healing process. We had successfully captured her escape, her conversion, and the beginnings of her new life with her children.
However, due to the emotional toll, we had to pause the project. While much of her story remains to be written, the existing manuscript serves as a raw and powerful testament to her resilience.

Afterward

While the project has not yet been completed, the client is committed to finishing her story when she feels emotionally ready. In the meantime, she continues to use the material already written as a powerful tool in her advocacy work, helping to raise awareness about sexual slavery and abuse.

Impact So Far

  • Personal healing: The process of writing the book helped her reflect on her journey, providing some emotional relief
  • Foundation laid: The partial manuscript has opened up new conversations around healing, trauma, and the power of faith
  • Inspiration: Even unfinished, the existing chapters have already begun to inspire others in similar situations
  • Ongoing advocacy: She has begun speaking at local events, using the material she has written to support other survivors

Impact Summary

This book is not just about overcoming adversity — it’s about the strength to rise again, even when the scars are deep. While still in progress, this survivor’s story offers hope and inspires anyone trapped in a cycle of abuse and trauma to believe in the possibility of a better future.
