He was nominated for The Imitation Game as Alan Turing, and again for The Power of the Dog, where Jane Campion cast him against everything the persona suggests as a cruel Montana rancher concealing himself.
Doctor Strange put him inside the Marvel machine for eight appearances, and he has done extensive voice and motion capture work including Smaug and Grinch.
He trained at LAMDA, works regularly on stage, and produces through his own company.
