Martin (1977)
Martin earns its 8 by asking a question that quietly dismantles the entire vampire genre. What if there is no such thing as a vampire, only a disturbed young man who believes he is one?
George A Romero directed Night of the Living Dead, which created the modern zombie film and whose Black lead and ending reframe the entire picture, and Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and Martin. He worked in Pittsburgh outside the studio system for his whole career and lost the copyright on his first film through a title card error.
