Actor: Stellan Skarsgard

Stellan Skarsgard has worked in Swedish, Danish and English-language film for five decades and appears in nearly everything Lars von Trier has made, including Breaking the Waves, Dogville, Melancholia and Nymphomaniac.

He has also been in Good Will Hunting, the Marvel films, Mamma Mia, Dune and the Pirates series, which gives him one of the widest commercial ranges of any European actor.

Andor gave him the best late work, playing a rebel organiser whose Ghorman speech is a genuine piece of political writing.

Several of his children act, most prominently Alexander and Bill, and he has been openly critical of the American film industry throughout.
