Peter Sallis voiced Wallace across the Wallace and Gromit films, and the character was written around his voice after Nick Park heard him. He also starred in Last of the Summer Wine for thirty-seven years, which is the longest-running sitcom in the world. He was a Royal Air Force instructor during the war.
