Michael Biehn appeared in three consecutive James Cameron films, as Kyle Reese in The Terminator, Hicks in Aliens and Coffey in The Abyss, which is an unusually concentrated collaboration.
Kyle Reese is the performance: a man who has already lost, arriving from a ruined future with about a day to live, and Biehn plays exhaustion instead of heroism.
He was cast in Terminator 2 and cut from the theatrical release, appearing only in the extended version.
The subsequent career has been largely in independent and direct-to-video work, and he has spoken openly about alcoholism and its effect on it.
