Ciarán Hinds worked for decades in theatre and film before Belfast brought his first Academy Award nomination at sixty-nine, playing a grandfather with almost no exposition attached to him.

There Will Be Blood, Munich and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy fill out the film work, and Rome and Game of Thrones gave him television visibility.
