Noël Coward co-wrote and co-directed In Which We Serve, receiving an honorary Academy Award for it, and wrote Brief Encounter from his own play. He was a playwright, composer, performer and wartime propagandist, and Private Lives and Blithe Spirit are still constantly staged.
