Lawrence Kasdan wrote The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of the Jedi in quick succession, having been hired by Lucas on the strength of an unproduced script, which is close to the best run any screenwriter has had.
He then directed his own work, including Body Heat, The Big Chill and Grand Canyon, moving from pulp to ensemble drama without losing the ear for dialogue.
He returned to Star Wars decades later for The Force Awakens and Solo. His scripts are notable for how much character information is carried in throwaway lines.
