Writer: Johanna Harwood

Johanna Harwood worked on Dr. No and From Russia with Love, making her the first and for decades the only woman credited on a Bond screenplay. She had been an assistant to producer Harry Saltzman and did substantial adaptation work on both films.

Her contribution was progressively minimised in later accounts, with credits reduced to adaptation on the second film despite a fuller involvement, and the series went another sixty years before hiring another woman to write an entry.

She left the industry not long after and her role has only recently been reassessed by historians of the franchise.
