Drew Pearce co-wrote Iron Man 3 with Shane Black, and the film’s tonal register, buddy comedy with post-traumatic stress underneath, is a genuine departure for the series.

He also wrote Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation and Fast and Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw, and created the British series No Heroics.

Hotel Artemis, which he wrote and directed, is the original one: a near-future hospital for criminals staged almost entirely in a single building, and it is far stranger than his franchise work.
