Writer: Dalton Trumbo

Dalton Trumbo was one of the Hollywood Ten, jailed for contempt of Congress in 1950 for refusing to testify, and spent the following decade writing under pseudonyms and fronts. Roman Holiday and The Brave One both won Academy Awards he could not collect.

Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger credited him openly on Spartacus and Exodus in 1960, which is generally taken as the moment the blacklist broke.

He also wrote Johnny Got His Gun as a novel and later directed the adaptation. His Academy Awards were formally restored to him decades afterward.
