Allan Scott co-wrote Don’t Look Now, whose fractured editing and premonition structure make it one of the most formally daring British films of the 1970s, and worked repeatedly with Nicolas Roeg afterward on Castaway and The Witches.

He spent decades trying to get Stephen King’s The Shining sequel and other projects made, and finally adapted Doctor Sleep material and King’s own work late in his career.

Outside film he was a businessman in the whisky industry, which is an unusual parallel career for a screenwriter of that standing.
