Ed Solomon wrote, loosely adapted from Lowell Cunningham's Aircel/Malibu comic. The film made approximately five hundred and ninety million dollars worldwide on a ninety million dollar budget.
Barry Sonnenfeld directed the Men in Black films and The Addams Family and had been the cinematographer on the Coen brothers’ first three films. His camera work on Blood Simple and Raising Arizona is a substantial part of why they look the way they do.
