Death Wish (1974-1994)
Architect-turned-vigilante across two decades of declining quality. The series follows Paul Kersey, an architect whose wife is murdered and daughter assaulted in the original film, after which he becomes a vigilante.

Vincent Gardenia was nominated for Best Supporting Actor twice, for Bang the Drum Slowly and Moonstruck, the latter playing a father whose infidelity the film handles with unusual generosity.
Death Wish gives him the detective, and Little Shop of Horrors gives him the flower shop owner. He won a Tony for The Prisoner of Second Avenue and worked constantly in New York theatre throughout.
