Tony Todd played Candyman across four films, and the performance is built on a voice so low and measured that the character reads as tragic before he reads as threatening. He performed the bee sequences with live bees and was stung repeatedly.

Night of the Living Dead’s 1990 remake gave him Ben, and the Final Destination series gave him a recurring role. He worked constantly in genre film and voice acting until his death in 2024.
