Tetsurō Tamba appeared in more than three hundred Japanese films and is known internationally for You Only Live Twice, playing Tiger Tanaka, the head of Japanese intelligence.
Three Outlaw Samurai gives him the lead, a wandering ronin who intervenes in a peasant dispute for no clear reason, and Harakiri gives him a supporting role. He later wrote extensively on spiritualism and the afterlife.
