Terry Gilliam was the only American Python and provided the animations, which gave the show its visual identity. He acted in the films in small grotesque parts and went on to direct Brazil, Twelve Monkeys and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and his battles with studios have become their own body of documentary.
