Escape from New York is John Carpenter's dystopian action film and one of the foundational works of 1980s post-apocalyptic cinema. Carpenter directed and co-wrote with Nick Castle.

Season Hubley played Niki in Hardcore, a sex worker who becomes the protagonist’s guide through an underworld, and it is a performance of considerable complexity in a film that could easily have flattened her.
Escape from New York gives her a much smaller part, and Vice Squad gives her a lead as a call girl pursued by a violent pimp.
She was married to Kurt Russell, with whom she appeared in the television Elvis, and largely stepped away from acting in the 1990s.
