From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
The tonal whiplash is the entire experience. From Dusk Till Dawn earns its 7 by being two completely different movies stapled together, and by the strange fact that the staple holds.
Actor: Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek was nominated for Best Actress for Frida, which she spent years developing and produced herself after multiple studios declined it.
She came from Mexican telenovelas and moved to Hollywood facing considerable typecasting, which she has discussed. Desperado and From Dusk till Dawn gave her early visibility, and Eternals and House of Gucci gave her recent work. She wrote publicly about Harvey Weinstein’s conduct during the Frida production.
