Catch-22 (1970)
Mike Nichols' 1970 Heller adaptation. Substantial source material that the film handles only partially.
Richard Benjamin played the tourist in Westworld who is pursued by Yul Brynner’s malfunctioning android, and the film’s second half rests entirely on him alone.
Goodbye Columbus and Catch-22 gave him earlier work, and he won a Golden Globe for The Sunshine Boys. He then moved almost entirely into directing, making My Favorite Year, Mermaids and The Money Pit.
