Richard Benjamin played the tourist in Westworld who is pursued by Yul Brynner’s malfunctioning android, and the film’s second half rests entirely on him alone.

Goodbye Columbus and Catch-22 gave him earlier work, and he won a Golden Globe for The Sunshine Boys. He then moved almost entirely into directing, making My Favorite Year, Mermaids and The Money Pit.

Westworld is great and deserves considerably better than its current reputation as merely the prototype for the HBO series. Michael Crichton's original concept is tighter, scarier, and structurally cleaner than anything the television adaptation produced in its first two seasons.
