Se7en (1995) Review
Se7en (1995) rates 9 out of 10 on the rewatch scale. The rain never stops, the city has no name, and the killer wins exactly as planned. Fincher's second film, made after a first one he has disowned.
Actor: R. Lee Ermey
R Lee Ermey was a genuine Marine Corps drill instructor hired as a technical adviser on Full Metal Jacket, and demonstrated the role on tape so effectively that Kubrick recast him in it.
He improvised the majority of Hartman’s dialogue, reportedly generating around fifteen thousand words of insults, and Kubrick, who almost never permitted improvisation, allowed it.
He served in Vietnam, was medically retired, and spent the rest of his career playing variations on military authority, including Toy Story’s Sarge.
