Moneyball (2011)
Bennett Miller's 2011 baseball analytics drama. Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, Jonah Hill as Peter Brand.
Actor: Jonah Hill
Jonah Hill came from Judd Apatow comedies, in Superbad and Knocked Up, and then received Best Supporting Actor nominations for Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street, which almost nobody predicted.
Moneyball is the better performance, playing a data analyst whose confidence is entirely intellectual and entirely fragile.
He directed Mid90s, wrote and produced, and has spoken publicly about therapy and about body image in ways that are unusual for a male comic performer.
