The Elephant Man buried him under eight hours of prosthetics daily, and the performance is entirely in the voice and one visible eye.

The chestburster scene in Alien is the single most reproduced moment in horror, and the other cast members were not told what would happen, which is why their reactions read as they do.

The voice made him a permanent presence in narration and animation, and he worked steadily until his death in 2017.
