Actor: Jerry Orbach

Jerry Orbach was a major Broadway performer, originating roles in The Fantasticks, Chicago and 42nd Street, and won a Tony before most audiences knew his face.

Dirty Dancing gives him the father, and Beauty and the Beast gives him Lumière, singing Be Our Guest with a French accent he built from Maurice Chevalier.

Law and Order gave him Lennie Briscoe across twelve years, and the deadpan one-liners over the body became a format signature. He died in 2004.
