Chandler co-wrote with Wilder. Double Indemnity is the Billy Wilder-directed Paramount Pictures noir that became the canonical template for the genre's mature middle period.

Jean Heather appeared in Double Indemnity as the stepdaughter whose testimony complicates the plot, and in Going My Way. She retired from acting after a car accident in the late 1940s.
