Jane Greer played Kathie Moffat in Out of the Past, one of the most complete femmes fatales in the noir cycle, and Howard Hughes kept her under contract while largely preventing her from working, which she has described as deliberate. She appeared decades later in the remake, Against All Odds, as her own character’s mother.
