James Rebhorn appeared in more than a hundred films and television series, almost always as a lawyer, executive, official or doctor, and had a face that read as bureaucratic authority immediately.

Scent of a Woman, Independence Day and My Cousin Vinny fill out the film work, and Homeland gave him a late television role. He wrote his own obituary before his death in 2014, which was widely circulated.
