Actor: Idris Elba

Idris Elba played Stringer Bell in The Wire with an American accent so complete that a large portion of the audience did not know he was English until interviews revealed it.

He then moved between British television in Luther, Marvel as Heimdall, Pacific Rim, Beasts of No Nation and Mandela, which is an unusually wide spread.

Beasts of No Nation is the serious performance, playing a warlord recruiting child soldiers, and it is genuinely frightening.

He is also a DJ and musician, has raced professionally, and was repeatedly discussed as a potential James Bond over a decade in which the question became somewhat exhausting.
