Honor Blackman played Cathy Gale in The Avengers, a judo-trained anthropologist who fought her own fights on screen, which was close to unprecedented for British television in 1962.

Goldfinger cast her as Pussy Galore at thirty-eight, older than most Bond leads, and the judo was genuine. Jason and the Argonauts gave her Hera. She published a book on self-defense and refused a damehood on republican grounds.
