The Swarm (1978)
The Swarm is Irwin Allen's 1978 American disaster film. Allen's disaster filmography had included The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and The Towering Inferno (1974) that operated at substantially higher register.
Actor: Henry Fonda
Henry Fonda played American decency for four decades, in The Grapes of Wrath, Young Mr Lincoln, 12 Angry Men and Mister Roberts, and the persona was so fixed that directors could use it as a tool.
Sergio Leone used it as a weapon. Casting Fonda as the child-killing gunman in Once Upon a Time in the West, and holding on his blue eyes as he shoots a boy, works only because of everything the audience brings to the face.
12 Angry Men, which he also produced, is the purest version of the persona: one man reasoning a room out of a verdict, in real time, in one location.
He won Best Actor for On Golden Pond in his final performance, and was too ill to attend. His daughter Jane collected it.
