Actor: Fred Gwynne

Fred Gwynne was Herman Munster for two seasons and spent decades afterward escaping it, which he largely managed through stage work and late film roles.

Pet Sematary gives him Jud Crandall, whose warmth makes the film’s horror land, and My Cousin Vinny gives him Judge Chamberlain Haller, whose exchanges about the two youths are the best comedy in the film.

He was a Harvard graduate, a published children’s author and illustrator, and served in the Navy during the war.
