F Murray Abraham won Best Actor for Amadeus, playing Salieri narrating from an asylum, and the performance requires him to age forty years and to convey envy as something close to religious agony.
He has said the award made it harder to get work, not easier. Scarface, The Name of the Rose and The Grand Budapest Hotel fill out the film career, and The White Lotus brought a late Emmy nomination. He works constantly in Shakespeare on stage.
