Elle Fanning has worked since she was two, initially playing the younger version of her sister Dakota’s characters.
Super 8 gave her a breakout, and she has since chosen deliberately strange material with Nicolas Winding Refn, Sofia Coppola and Yorgos Lanthimos. The Great gave her Catherine the Great as a comedy, and The Beguiled and 20th Century Women fill out the range. She was the youngest juror in Cannes history at twenty-one.
