Showgirls (1995) Review
Read as a Verhoeven satire of the American Dream, the film makes sense. The 7 accounts honestly for execution problems that remain even when the satirical reading lands.
Elizabeth Berkley played the lead in Showgirls, which was savaged on release and effectively stopped her career, and which has since acquired an extensive critical reappraisal in which her commitment is generally the most defended element. Saved by the Bell made her known beforehand.
