Gandhi (1982)
Richard Attenborough's 1982 Gandhi biopic. Three-hour epic of nonviolent resistance.
Edward Fox played the assassin in The Day of the Jackal, a character with no established identity, and the performance works because he gives away nothing at all across two hours.
A Bridge Too Far and Gandhi gave him officers, and he won a BAFTA for The Go-Between. He comes from a substantial acting family, and his brother James is also a well-known performer.
