Debbie Reynolds was nineteen and not a trained dancer when cast in Singin’ in the Rain, and Gene Kelly’s rehearsals were punishing enough that her feet bled. She was nominated for The Unsinkable Molly Brown and assembled an enormous collection of Hollywood costumes that she spent decades trying to house in a museum.
