Claude Akins appeared in From Here to Eternity, Rio Bravo and The Caine Mutiny, and worked constantly in westerns and television for four decades. Movin’ On and Sheriff Lobo gave him television leads, and his heavy build and gravelled voice meant he was cast as both villains and lawmen with equal frequency.
