Claire Bloom was cast by Charlie Chaplin in Limelight at twenty-one and had a substantial classical career alongside film. The Haunting gives her Theodora, and Richard III and Clash of the Titans fill out the range. She was married to Philip Roth and wrote a memoir about it that caused a considerable literary argument.
