Actor: Cary Grant

Cary Grant was born Archibald Leach and worked as a stilt walker and acrobat before Hollywood, and famously said that everybody wants to be Cary Grant, including him. The persona was a construction he maintained across four decades.

He worked with Hitchcock four times, in Suspicion, Notorious, To Catch a Thief and North by Northwest, and the last of those uses his effortlessness as the joke: a man who is never flustered spending two hours being flustered. He never won a competitive Academy Award and received an honorary one in 1970.
