Anouk Aimée was nominated for Best Actress for A Man and a Woman, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and became one of the most commercially successful French films ever made.
She appeared in La Dolce Vita and 8½ for Fellini, and worked with Demy, Lelouch and Altman. She won Best Actress at Cannes for A Leap in the Dark and worked into her nineties.
