Stalker (1979)
Tarkovsky's 1979 Soviet SF film. Two and a half slow hours that justify every minute.
Anatoly Solonitsyn appeared in five Tarkovsky films including Andrei Rublev, Solaris and Stalker, and was the director’s most frequent collaborator. In Stalker he plays the Writer, whose cynicism is the counterweight to the Professor’s rationalism. He died at forty-seven, and Tarkovsky had intended him for further roles.
