The Penguin Press is the flagship American nonfiction imprint of Penguin Random House, founded in 2003 under Ann Godoff, publishing history, biography, politics, science, and serious current affairs.
Its list is built on ambitious long-form nonfiction, and its authors have won extensive Pulitzer and National Book Award recognition.
It published Steve Coll's Ghost Wars in 2004, which won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction the following year, and his subsequent books including Directorate S and Private Empire. The imprint's willingness to support seven-hundred-page investigative histories is what makes work of that kind commercially possible.
