There are several ways to get a book written, and the right one depends on where the book stands today, who you want doing the writing, and how you plan to publish it. Answer five questions and this quiz points you to the path that fits, plus one more worth a look.

Nothing here asks for your name or email. The answers stay in your browser.

Which Book Path Is Right for You?

The paths the quiz chooses between

Ghostwriting. You talk, I write, and the book comes out in your voice under your name. There are versions for memoirs, executive and business books and novels.

Book coaching. You write the book yourself, with a coach who keeps you moving and reads every chapter.

Publishing help. The manuscript is finished, and it needs formatting, platform setup and metadata, or a proposal for agents.

A place to start. When the book is still a feeling more than a plan, the Book Discovery Intensive works out what it should be before anyone commits to writing it.

Should you hire a ghostwriter or write the book yourself?

Write it yourself when the writing is part of what you want out of the project, and you can protect a few hours every week for months. Hire a ghostwriter when the book matters more than the act of writing it, and your time is worth more spent on the work the book is about. Either way, your name goes on the cover. The quiz weighs that choice along with the others, and the Finish-Date Calculator shows what each path means for your calendar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it better to hire a ghostwriter or work with a book coach?
A ghostwriter suits you when you want the book written for you, in your voice. A book coach suits you when you want to do the writing and need structure, deadlines and an honest reader. The quiz on this page sorts out which one fits.
What should I do with a finished manuscript?
Decide how you want it published. For self-publishing, it needs formatting, platform setup and metadata. For a traditional publisher, it needs a book proposal and a query to agents.
Can an AI-assisted book go to a traditional publisher?
Some traditional publishers restrict AI-assisted work, and copyright covers only the human-authored parts. An AI-assisted book suits self-publishing. For a traditional deal, full ghostwriting avoids both problems.
What if I want to write a book but don’t know what it should be about?
Start by working out the book before writing it: who it is for, what it should do for them, and which of your stories and ideas belong in it. The Book Discovery Intensive exists for that stage.
