Editorial Ariel is a Spanish publishing house founded in Barcelona in 1942, specialising in humanities, social sciences, philosophy, history, and serious general nonfiction.
It is part of Grupo Planeta, the largest Spanish-language publishing group, and has published Spanish editions of a great many major international works of scholarship alongside original Spanish-language philosophy and essay writing.
It is the original publisher of Fernando Savater's Etica para Amador in 1991, which became one of the most widely read philosophy books in Spanish, and of its companion Politica para Amador the following year. Both remain continuously in print and are taught in Spanish-language schools.
