Tor Books is the largest English-language publisher of science fiction and fantasy in the world, founded in 1980 by Tom Doherty and acquired by St. Martin's Press in 1986. It is now part of Tom Doherty Associates within the Macmillan Publishing Group. Tor has won the Locus Award for Best Publisher every year from 1988 through the present, an unbroken run of more than three decades, and publishes Brandon Sanderson, John Scalzi, Robert Jordan and his successor Brandon Sanderson on the Wheel of Time, Cory Doctorow, Mary Robinette Kowal, and many other major working SF and fantasy writers.
