Coma (1978)
Michael Crichton's 1978 medical thriller. Genevieve Bujold investigates hospital coma conspiracy.
Richard Widmark’s first film, Kiss of Death, gives him Tommy Udo, who pushes an elderly woman down a staircase in a wheelchair while giggling, and the performance was so effective that it earned an Academy Award nomination and typecast him immediately.
He spent decades playing decent men to escape it, in Judgment at Nuremberg, Panic in the Streets and The Bedford Incident. He was a pacifist who disliked guns and reportedly hated the Udo performance’s legacy.
