Nicholas C. Rossis

Nicholas C. Rossis is a Greek-born award-winning indie author of science fiction, fantasy, children's books, and writing-craft references, writing from Athens, Greece. He is best known for the bestselling Pearseus epic fantasy and science fiction series, the Runaway Smile and Musiville children's books, and his prolific writing and book-marketing blog at nicholasrossis.me, which is widely cited as one of the most useful free resources for indie authors navigating the post-2010 publishing landscape.

The Pearseus series, often described as ancient Greece in space, follows the survivors of Earth who land on a distant planet called Pearseus three hundred years and many lightyears from home. The series combines ancient Greek history and mythology with Eastern philosophy and the political structure of Greek city-states transposed to a far-future colony world. It has repeatedly reached number one in its Amazon genre categories and has been voted onto Indie best-of lists. His short fiction collection Infinite Waters: 9+1 Speculative Fiction Short Stories was voted one of the best fifty Indie books of 2015. His other short fiction collections include Honest Fibs and the Ultimate Collection of Science and Speculative Fiction Short Stories.

His children's books have been widely awarded. Runaway Smile won the Gelett Burgess Children's Book Award in the Young Adult Fiction category, the Greek IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) Award, and other prizes. It and his second children's book Musiville are available free on his blog as part of his ongoing donation of resources to writers and parents.

His writing-craft references include Emotional Beats: How to Easily Convert Your Writing into Palpable Feelings, which catalogues physical and behavioral expressions of emotion writers can use in place of clichéd showing, and The Power of Six, a guide for authors on social media marketing, building platform, and indie publishing strategy. His blog publishes daily on book marketing, craft, writing tools, and the working business of being an indie author.
