The Client
Doris was a retired real estate broker and professional counselor with a degree in psychology. A Florida native and a deeply spiritual woman, she had spent decades documenting her dreams by hand. Her goal was simple but profound: turn a lifetime of handwritten visions into a novel her family could hold in their hands — and in their hearts.
The Journey
Doris found me through a Google search for ghostwriters near her. By pure coincidence, I lived just a few miles away. We agreed to meet at a Panera Bread in Dunedin, Florida — and when she arrived, she brought her entire family.
Warm, lively, and larger than life, they reminded me of a Southern storybook. Think Beverly Hillbillies meets Gulf Coast mysticism. I liked them right away.
Then Doris handed me a stack of handwritten notes — decades of dreams, stories, and reflections — and asked,
“Can you turn this into a novel?”
I said yes. And we got to work.
Over the next 16 months, we met regularly. Doris would share new stories and explain the meaning behind old ones. I would ask questions, build structure, and shape her dream world into something cohesive. We built Gators in the Soup from scratch — a surreal, funny, emotional, and uniquely Southern novel full of glowing clouds, snapping alligators, deep wisdom, and vivid symbols.
Her daughter joined the process as the editor, helping ensure the final story stayed true to Doris’s voice and emotional truth. Together, we brought her story to life — not just as a book, but as a collaboration between generations.
The Finished Book
The result was Gators in the Soup — part dream journal, part emotional fable, part Florida folklore. It was everything Doris hoped for and more.
“Seeing the story come to life was incredible,” she said. “It was exactly what I had imagined, but even better.”
When I handed her the final printed copy, she held it gently and said:
“It feels like I’m holding my firstborn child.”
Afterward
Doris passed away just three months after the book was published. She had hoped to write a sequel. She had more stories to tell. But even in that short time, she got to hold her dream in her hands — and her family got to see her vision realized.
“This book was my mom’s dream,” her daughter said. “Thanks to the ghostwriting service, it’s something our family can cherish forever.” “It wasn’t just about writing a book. It was about honoring my mom’s vision and giving her story the life it deserved.”
Impact
This project wasn’t about visibility, platform-building, or lead generation.
It was about legacy. It was about taking something internal, deeply personal, and difficult to express — and turning it into a permanent, tangible story that can be passed down.
